“As rural communities appreciate govt for palliatives
By Chancel Sunday, Burutu
The executive chairman, Burutu council area, Mr Godknows Angele, has commended Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for the proactive measures put in place to curtail spread of the Corona Virus pandemic in the state.
Angele gave the commendation yesterday at Tamigbe during the distribution of palliatives, which includes bags of rice, beans and indomie noodles from the State Food Bank to rural communities in Burutu South.
He noted that Okowa’s concerted efforts earlier put in place to protect Deltans were yielding results as the situation would been worse if such actions were not taken.
“I charged you community leaders to share the palliatives to the vulnerable and I equally call on those who are well-to-do in the council area, that this is the time the vulnerable need your help most.
“Anybody found to be playing politics in the sharing of this palliatives will be dealt with because His Excellency strongly warned against it”, he said.
Mr Akpoebide Defence, chairman Tuomo community, thanked Okowa on behalf of the recipients for the gesture and appealed for more succour to riverine communities.
