Edo group lauds security operatives for peace building
By Isaac Olamikan, Senior Correspondent, Benin
Benin Solidarity Movement(BSM) has commended operatives of the security agencies in Edo State for what is described as “their peace building and conflict resolution drive in their avowed desire to ensure that peace and harmony reigns in the state.”
Going further in a statement signed by its President, Curtis Ugbo, the BSM said: “Particular mention must be made of the yeoman efforts of the state director of the Directorate of State Service(DSS), the Commissioner of Police, the Brigade Commander, 4th Brigade, Benin and the Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) in this regard.
“We of the Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) insist that the only true path to enduring peace in the state especially as it relates to the Benin and Ijaws issue is that it should be on record that there are only two kingdoms in the world, United Kingdom and the Benin Kingdom with their Royal Families.
“Can the Ijaws go to the United Kingdom and seek for another Kingdom? Is it possible? Let us always be reasonable in our demands/agitations so as not to be made laughing stocks.
“Asking for the carving out of another kingdom out of Benin Kingdom is going too far and such proposition should be avoided for the sake of peace in the state.”
