*We‘re wasting time prosecuting them as we lack evidences-AGF Malami

*It’s highly strange for you to say there are no evidences when people have been convicted in other countries-Prof Sagay

ABUJA- Buhari anti-corruption war which has received endless  bashings from Nigerians over the ways and process cases are handled seem to be on the verge of been totally rubbished if the reported verbal disagreement between two of the most trusted hands in the corruption war is to be used as a stand point.

Daily watch findings confirmed that  the war of words between the two most highly placed officials in terms of the Present administration corruption pursuit seem to be casting doubts on the much hailed and often praised corruption score card of this administration.

According to Daily Watch trail, In the thick of the new frenzy is the Attorney General of the Federation who incidentally is the number one law officer of the administration Alhaji Abubakar Malami (SAN) and Professor Itsa Sagay (SAN) Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee against corruption (PACAC).

Daily watch investigations had it that ,the bone of contention  between the two and which has succinctly exposed the antics of the leading lights in the much bashed and highly flawed corruption war started when the Country Attorney General sent a memo to the president advising the stoppage of a very high and power profiled corruption probe and trial popularly known as the Malabu Oil Scam over which several people and companies involved had been jailed and sentenced to diverse Prison terms in several  countries like Britain ,Italy etc on the ground that the Country has very scanty evidence on ground to go ahead with the trial of Nigerians named in the scam.

While the President is yet to even respond to the memo, the Chairman in charge o PACAC fired his own memo to the President and Nigerians in which he laughed at the Attorney General ploy to drop the case on the very strange excuses’ which the PACAC Chairman described as highly strange and laughable likening the memo to a clever attempts to shield thieves and see the memo as a mere attempts to enter a kind of spirit de corp with former AGF of the Federation.

According to the PACAC leader Professor Itsa Sagay (SAN) “ On this case people have been tried, prosecuted  and  many still undergoing  trial and prosecution in Italy, Britain and other places and a lot of money recovered. So it is strange for our own Attorney General to say that in the home front where the whole crime emanated from, in our home turf where it all stated, where the whole evidences should be to come out to say there is no evidences, it is strange, shocking and extremely  embarrassing”.

He chided the Country AGF for taking such step as according to him, it’s an attempt to rubbish the anti corruption fight of the government and using the office of the AGF to free serious criminals.

Attempts to reach out to the AGF on the reported condemnation of his plot to dump the Malabu trial and prosecution with the lame excuses of lack of evidence by no other than the Chairman of PACAC Professor Itsa Sagay, was not possible as at the time of going to press as all messages to the AGF were not responded.
