BREAKING: Fire engulfs Delta School building

Afternoon fire outbreak has engulfed school building at about 4:21pm on Friday January 3, at Aladja Grammar School in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The ravaging fire also destroyed properties in the school while there was no fire fighters, only local fire fighters put up their best which could not combat the inferno easily.
Details as to the cause of the fire is still sketchy at the time of this report.
No lives has been confirmed lost or any person injured, indigenes of the Community were however tensed mood as they sought for the help of fire fighters to salvage the situation.
When contacted for comments, an Old Student of Aladja Grammar School, Mr. Ighotegwolor Bezi could not speak out as he appealed to Our Correspondent help him contact Officials of the fire services for help.
The President of Aladja Community Council, Elder Otto Ogbiruveta confirmed the report to Daily in a telephone chat.
He said,”It is true about the fire. Am right at the spot to assess the situation.
“We called the Fire Service from Premium Mines &Steel Limited(formerly DSC) but before they came, our boys who were on ground had tried locally to quench the fire. They(fire service) assisted us. By this time, a serious damage has been done.
“Mostly affected is the School’s Laboratory. The fire would have spread but for the quick intervention of our people on ground and later, the fire service.
” We cannot ascertain the cause of the fire at the moment but they said, somebody somewhere light fire outside and it came into school compound.”
While thanking the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for the massive renovation works in the school compound, Elder Ogbiruveta appealed to the governor to assist the Community with the fencing of the School.
According to him,”If the School was fenced, the dire wouldn’t have entered the compound. Am appealing to our listening Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to help us protect the properties in the School by fencing it.”
