BREAKING: Buhari cancels controversial NDDC board
*Endorses Interim Magt. committee
President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled the Pius Odubu/ Bernard Okumagba led senate screened Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board and re-directed the interim management board to take charge indefinitely.
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President, (Media and Publicity) said in a statement said the supervision of the Commission shall remain under the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
We have earlier reported that the constituted senate screened NDDC board purportedly led by the duo of Bernard Okumagba (Delta) as Managing Director and Dr. Pius Odubu (Edo) as chairman would face fierce opposition from other ethnic nationalities, mostly Ijaw and Itsekiri as the NDDC act had zoned the managing director position to the people with the highest oil/Gas production quantum.
By the presidential cancellation, the Niger Delta governors and Ijaw/Itsekiri ethnic nationality in Delta state who stood keenly against the board may laugh last as they earlier described the board fraudulent which gritted with heated controversy on the composition of the NDDC board.
Already, the President has also directed that the Interim Management Team of the NDDC shall be in place till the forensic is completed,
